Another end of the week. I’ve been going at this for a month and went from 5 minutes to 9 minutes. Wow. I’ve come a long way. Almost double. Today was the test. I ran more than 9 minutes. I actually did 10, because it was on a treadmill.
Today, I didn’t run. Oops. Had to work on a side project at night, which means I had to travel to L.A.. Tomorrow is test day on the treadmill. We’ll see how that goes.
Ok, so tonight was pretty neat. I ran a bit extra because my first lap around, I pushed myself. I ran about 3/4 of a mile. My ultimate short term goal is to run 1 mile in 10 minutes. From there, I can either keep running that length and increase time, or try to run faster for 10 minutes. I would love to do an 8 minute mile eventually.
For some reason, today I was tired. Must have been the “Thirsty Thursday” drinks I had at work. I dragged my feet to get to the goal. I still ran 3800 feet, so that’s not too bad, considering that it was for 8 minutes and 30 seconds. That’s about a 5 mph run. It’s not the 5.6 mph that I did on a treadmill, but it’s definitely better for toning. This Sunday I can’t skip my “test” for “graduating” to 9 minutes of running. I have to see if the running outside helped with the treadmill.
Maybe a calendar view would make more sense. I’ll look up some options. Anyway, the run is going great. 8 minutes and 20 seconds. However, I noticed that I’m dropping in distance a bit. Maybe because I ran just a little extra on day 1. That’s actually not a bad observation. If I take a day break, I can run better the following day.
I’ll have to play with my times, especially when I get to higher times.
I’m getting accustomed to running about 8 minutes. I’m pretty happy with myself to have made it to this time, while running outside. It still feels very different. I want to get to about 10 minutes and just coast until I get to increase. I mean, after all, I have 30 weeks, and only 25 running weeks to get to 30 minutes.
So, the 8 minute run was a success, even if I didn’t run last night. I ran in a cool breeze and no heat. It felt great. I suppose I did a little more than 8 minutes since I wanted to reach the corner while still running. A 5 second sprint did me well.
Anyway, I’m back on track. And I’m loving it. I can’t wait for the 10 minute mark.
Graduation day, and I missed it. I would have liked to do my “graduation” run on a treadmill to see how much better I can do. I missed the opportunity. I guess I was tired from the trip. I think the standing all night to stargaze did me some good.
It was a decent day, even if I didn’t run.
Today, I decided to run mid-day. No more nice evening jogs for me. It was hard! The heat really took its toll on me. It’s hard running when it’s 80 degrees and not too much shade.
I did it anyway. Slowly but surely. Made the 8 minute marker, but I still call it a 7 minute and 50 seconds run.
I did this because tonight I’m going on a trip and I thought I’d get it out of the way.
Back to running. I overate, ran late, under hydrated… it was an overall bad day for running. But, because I didn’t run yesterday, I decided to make it 7:30 today to stay on target with the 10 second increase.
I actually did better than expected. I was a bit tired, but I wasn’t dying. It felt good running actually, and it went fairly quick. It went so quick that I ran 7:40. I guess I am on track. That’s good.
